I am Karen Pohlner, a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine) with a background as a Registered Nurse.

I have a special interest in women's health and a fierce desire to help empower women to achieve optimal health and wellbeing using natural methods throughout their entire reproductive life.

My clinic, Bamboo Spirit is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinic that specialises in the area of women's health, pre-conception care, fertility, pregnancy support, childbirth and postnatal care.

At Bamboo Spirit we believe that good medicine requires the strength of bamboo to devise, implement and sustain an effective treatment plan, and the flexibility to accommodate people’s endlessly changing health needs.

I am a passionate advocate and actively involved in the process of bridging the gap between Eastern and Western medicine.

I am currently writing a series of articles for an Australian pregnancy and childbirth journal in the field of women's health.  Through these articles I aim to provide important educational information to health care providers and consumers on how to safely and effectively use Traditional Chinese Medicine to support health and wellbeing.
